History of BMX (2005 - 2006)
YEAR 2005.
Flashback 1975, picture of USA rider Tinker Juarez on a full suspension BMX bike: did bikes change or what!
BMX exists around 30 years now in the USA as an official spot (since 1974, N.B.A.). Pioneer Byron Friday showing that in this poster.
January 29-30th. 20th. Indoor of Tours, France.
February 14th, our BMX professor Gerrit Does celebrated his 60th birthday.
At the surprise party that his childeren Nico and Pieter organised, over 80 family members and friends from moto-cross and BMX were present. Special guest was Jaxon Bradley, Gerrit's American friend from Kansis City. Also a special delegation from Latvian BMX was present, Ziaga and Aldons Vrublevskis as well as Janis Silins. They presented Gerrit with this appreciation award.
May 21-25th., visiting Latvia again and checking out the BMX scene.
Another very interesting trip to Latvia and again learning much more about its culture and history, besides just BMX developments.

May 26th. through 29th., trip to Latvia: BMX pioneers involved in youth golf sport.
Since the early days of BMX (1979) I have been close friends with among others, co-founder member of the I.BMX.F. (Internatinal BMX Federation) Mr. Tadashi Inoue. Mr. Inoue has always been a notorious golf player ánd promotor/organizer of golf tournements in Japan. It was early 2006 when Tadashi asked me to help him select a number of youth golf players from different countries in Europe, in order to invite them to a youth tournemant in Japan, pending sometime October 2006. So through our BMX connection we now got involved in golf.
One of the countries were a couple of young players will be selected was Latvia. Through my BMX connections with the Latvian BMX Federation ánd the Latvian Olympic Committee, I was able to get in touch with leading persons in the golf sport in Latvia. Both Tadashi Inoue and myself travelled to Latvia and selected a few young players. Here some pictures of our trip to Latvia and the people we did meet.
As "fathers" of BMX, ofcourse we also had to be present for a while at a National BMX event in Valmiera. On our way to Valmiere, we did some sight-seeing. Latvia is a beautiful country for sure.
During this long weekend, Aldons Vrublevskis did show us some of the OLympic facilities were athletes train and are tested. We visited about 4 fantastic sights. Sports in general does play an important role in Latvia.
After a succesful long weekend we went back to Holland and Ted later on did return to Japan. Very sad to say that shortly after this trip, cancer was diagnosed with Ted. The possitive thing is that Ted Inoue was treathed well and is still o.k. up till today (2017).
